Crop Health Day

Thea Muijsers of Mertens Agro about the Crop Health Day:
The third edition of the annual Crop Health Day took place in the afternoon of Thursday, 10 October. LTO/LLTB (the regional department of the Dutch Organisation for Agriculture and Horticulture) and Botany together organised a very interesting afternoon for the third year in a row. The event attracted the maximum of 100 participants, mostly greenhouse growers.

The day was opened with a speech by Nico van Ruiten, the chairman of the LTO, who talked about the future of the horticultural sector based on his experience as an entrepreneur in the Dutch Westland region, famous for its many greenhouses. The Crop Health Day focuses on entrepreneurs in the southeast of the Netherlands. So the fact that Mr Van Ruiten gave a speech as a representative of the Westland region was greatly appreciated. The participants were then offered a range of six workshops from which they could select the one that interested them most. The workshops focused on crop protection, hygiene, technology and new developments. After that the participants were granted a look ‘behind the scenes’ to find out what Botany does, and they could visit various trials.

Mertens Agro finds its cooperation with both parties very satisfying. In this composition the three parties can combine their strengths and present a varied, professional programme.
